Winding down

Work and life have just been pretty busy the last couple of days that when I reach home I feel so zonked out, I just stare at the television or Marquis and have the strongest desire to never move from the couch ever again.

I wake up every morning with an excitement for my day ahead, because I'm finding out that each day has its own lessons to learn, mistakes to make, new things to be learnt, dreams to be chased and well.. another day to love and be loved again.

Can't wait to count down for 2012 because even though 2011 did not go my way most of the time, it was still a memorable one filled with loyal friends and good food!
And of course, I got to learn so much more about my God and my faith and just basically grew more in love.

It's easy to fall head over heels in love but staying in love? Now that's the real challenge. But it's a sweet challenge because you will feel the joy of it all too. Are you ready for it? Let's go!

Cheers to everyone of you who happened to stumble upon my humble online journal- may 2012 be your best year yet because you know what they say.. THE BEST IS YET TO COME. ;)

Ode to Apple

Someone once told me something interesting: Notice the 3 most notable men in history changed the world because of one common thing... an apple!
Adam, Newton and Steve Jobs.

That's it, I'm gonna start carrying apples around me or su'm. Start planting apple trees in my beautiful garden.  Plant a beautiful garden. Find an empty ground to call it my garden. And hope my neighbor doesn't notice a strange girl digging around the trees during the day.
Sounds like a plan ;)

Set Fire

I set my hair on fire. The bottom half is still roasting and so still looks like fire and I burnt my top half completely to black. And that explains why my hair's all curled and frizzy. Fire.
So many things on my mind for the Christmas season that I'm spacing out. I think the Christmas cheer is making me hungry all the time too. What's pink and fat with a curly tail &; loves to eat all the time?
My dinner. Yes, I'm so carnivorous now even I scare myself.
Wearing Steve Munsey's t-shirt is like a sharp jolt to my mind every time I look in the mirror.
Because there are some things that you can't afford to forget.
Or else you'll forget why you're here and what's your purpose and your identity ultimately.
Scary isn't it..

Never Forget.

Embroidered X-Rays

To Matthew Cox stitching has a nurturing aspect and acts as care giving or healing to the injured, a socially feminine sort of action, while the x-ray itself can be considered masculine and unemotional.
One tactile and labor intensive, the other technical, and quickly a finished product. There’s a wide historical context, one ancient, decorative, and artisanal, the other contemporary and devoid of aesthetic intention. By simply placing one of these materials on top of the other the understood purpose of each is redefined.

'today you found your hips!'

Some good fun with good friends whom I haven't seen it a while.
I was so tired by the end of the day that I fell into a deep deep sleep on the way home but it was worth it.
Plus, I discovered a new-found love for Latin dancing!
But it's best to dance with someone I know right?
Placing an ad here:
Anyone interested to learn with me? :D
Guaranteed to have fun twisting and twirling and moving them hips.
Fine print: When I step on your feet or whip my hand into your face, you still have to smile and look as though you're having fun.

Oh well if no one wants to join me, then all I can say is.. Thank God for brothers. Muahaha.

Click/ Read/ Lick

I love going on the web to get inspired by amazing artists/pictures/videos/quotes/etc.
So I just thought I'd share some links with y'all because good things are meant to shared, no? :)

Wise words from Joachim Schmid.

Stunning photography + food blog = What Katie Ate

I love gold-capped shoes! Don't know what they are officially called but they sure add the bling and street fashion into any pair of shoes. View the other YSL shoes here.

various tumblr goodness.

Before I go,
here's something I saw somewhere which really made me think:

DO WHAT YOU LOVE
LOVE WHAT YOU DO

Life is too short to be miserable, so just go out there and wing it!

The pursuit of beauty

What is beauty? Or rather, what can be called beautiful these days?
Just how much better must we look before we can appreciate ourselves and accept the fact that some of us will never be like those tall leggy gorgeous blond models?

It's a never-ending chase for beauty, for there will always be someone who will look better than the other.
Then what?

I was caught in this vicious cycle before- for a very long time and still struggle with it occasionally.
For the longest time, I was never able to look at a mirror or reflection without flinching at myself.
Looking at myself shows all the things I dread to see: eye bags, blemishes, weird red blotches on face, dead flat hair, one eye bigger than the other.
This affected me so much that sometimes it would take me a while before I can finally look at someone
in the eye.

I was the most un-confident little earthling around.

And I was cynical.
If I thought of myself as dreadfully horrid to look at,
then won't others think so too?

But let me share with you the most cliché thing I've ever learnt in my 20 years of life:
Before anyone can love you, YOU've got to love you.

I could struggle everyday with a complex on how I look, and never enjoy meeting people.

Or, I can accept myself in all my unique ways and just smile at the world with my lopsided grin and crooked teeth. Because strangely when you smile, the world smiles back at you.
And I've never felt happier and more confident.

Thank God I've met friends who accept and love me for my weird face expressions and unsightly spots at times, but the fact that they can laugh over it with me lets me know that they are not superficial and won't leave me just because I look like death.
Friendship and love runs so much deeper than how your face or hair looks.

Most importantly, Someone has never failed to remind me that I'm His precious work of art. He loves me no matter how I look or what I've done- and that is more than enough.

Stand proud of yourself, my dear.
'For we are God’s masterpiece.' Eph 2:10

& I think that you, with your kooky eyes/ round nose/ chin/ teeth/ long ears/ cute cheeks/ croc shoes, yes you..

You
are
 beautiful.
