Where you go, I go

In the start of the year, some resolutions were being made and one of them is to try and bless people wherever I go. That every day I would never fail to wear on the joy and peace from my Abba and pass that love and kindness on. I think its called 'value-adding'.
Yes, I want to be a value-adder to the people I meet.

Every morning I would say a prayer for God to direct my steps so that I will be able to meet someone's need or just brighten up their day by letting them know they are loved.

Of course it's exciting but nerve-wrecking at the same time.. to sometimes go up to a complete stranger and bless them. But the smiles and conversations that I get so far makes it worth it. It makes your realize that people just need a little more acceptance in their lives and that God has given you that grace to do so.

There was a very grumpy old man serving me as I was buying something. He was practically snarling at me as I fumbled for my coins. I (am only human) wanted to just dump my money into his hands and walk off with a 'Tsk' because of his bad attitude.
But as I was handing the money over, I felt that he might be having a bad day and so was acting this way. I decided to reach into my bag where I'd stored up an angbao (with 2 chocolate coins and a bible verse of prosperity to bless someone).
I gave him the angbao with a big smile and my loudest 'Gong xi fa cai, uncle!'
And wow, his face lighted up.
He started smiling and even chuckled as he thanked me for the angbao.
I told him that it was not real money, but just gold choc coins.
He said he knows its chocolates but his granddaughter likes them.
Then he waved bye to me as I continued on to my train.

This song best sums it up:

"My hands, my feet, my everything, my life, my love.. Lord, use me."

CLAWed OVER

When I saw this Lita, I HAD to blog about its awesomeness.
When I saw the Wacom tablet, I just HAD to try and illustrate it.
Turned out fun and sketchy but I prefer messy & raw than straight lines any day.
I wish I could call this Lita mine....... (But truth be told, it will probably be sold out before I even buy this and then the next hot shoe comes along and I'd get bowled over clawed over by it too.)

I've been to detention way too many times.

White collared top? Check.
Skirt shorts? Check.
High socks? Check.
Shoelaced shoes? Check.

A little twist on a school uniform.
Yeah I'd prolly get expelled if I went back to my secondary sch.

One thing I really like about studying in NAFA is its gooood location!
If I ever want to shop (which is like most of the time) then I can get a good bargain in Bugis Street. And if I'm ever hungry (which is like all the time) then I just need to cross the street for great food!
No wonder I'm growing rounder..... :O
Take it from me, kids. Growing older does affect your metabolism.

Trials and temptations

Is there a term for Murphy's law except that it's not anything that can go bad will go bad.. But more like every time I set my heart on doing something, life just throws another thing to tempt and laugh at me?

You're probably thinking this is about something very serious but actually no, this is where I get all shallow and materialistic. You must understand, some people love gadgets. Some love musical instruments. I.. love shoes. A lot. Don't judge.

Just a couple of days ago, I had a talk with my dad. A grown-up talk about money and future and jobs and some more money again. Long story short, I agreed to watch my spendings and to save AS MUCH AS FELICIA-LY POSSIBLE because of some situation our family is going through. I got kinda offended at first because I was all 'I don't spend thaaat much!' before I had to eat my words because after serious reflecting, I realize I do spend the most- on food and transport and other basic necessities (I can't walk around naked or barefooted, can I?) (What do you mean I already have 15 other pairs of heels?) (My logic: Better safe than sorry. Buy more just in case the other pairs spoil)
So anyway, I humbly agreed to shop less (Which means only buying something after asking my dad if I really need it 15 times) and will save all my money because I am a responsible daughter. (Amen.)

The world felt different after knowing that I won't be shopping for now. And I've been able to keep my word about budgeting and saving money so far! *takes a bow*

Until I checked my email today and clicked on the worst email ever.....
SALES at SOLESTRUCK now on!

?!?!!?!?!?!!?!?!

Shoes are my weakness and I've basically wanted to own almost every pair of shoes sold at Solestruck and now there's a sale when I'm not supposed to spend anymore!?!?
WHY, LIFE, WHY.
(This is a moment where I want to laugh 'cause there's a sale and want to cry 'cause there's a sale.)

It's taking every ounce of will in me to not buy the shoes, no matter how cheap they are now.
My word is my bond. Being financially stable is better than being in debt. Thou shalt not spend anymore on shoes when I have so many already.

But look, it's the Wilma booties by Senso in PINK LEOPARD that I wanted to get since forever.

Available in my size and it's only USD$ 39.95 now?

I.. I.. I can't even.

Dad, I'm not going to buy it. Hope you're proud of me. Please give me a hug tonight.

Click/ Read/ Lick

I love going on the web to get inspired by amazing artists/pictures/videos/quotes/etc.
So I just thought I'd share some links with y'all because good things are meant to shared, no? :)

Wise words from Joachim Schmid.

Stunning photography + food blog = What Katie Ate

I love gold-capped shoes! Don't know what they are officially called but they sure add the bling and street fashion into any pair of shoes. View the other YSL shoes here.

various tumblr goodness.

Before I go,
here's something I saw somewhere which really made me think:

DO WHAT YOU LOVE
LOVE WHAT YOU DO

Life is too short to be miserable, so just go out there and wing it!

Favorite 4 letter word?

Fave 4 letter word? It's got to start with a S and ends with A L E.
Uh-huh a sale~ that's where I got the stuff I was wearing that windy sunday.
Found the flowery snakeskin rain boots with Doreen at Aldo and it was like on a 75% discount?!
Went to a clearance at Robot Ninjas with Jyings and scored this dress for a orangey-red note!
Even my rolling stone & camera rings are from a flea and they both add up to less than 8 bucks?
This is being wise and thrifty with money huh?
My mama would be sososo proud of me :3
Oh wait actually she's not. She'd wish I stop buying anything at all,
sale or no sale.
But then what else would I wear, mother?

My other fave 4 letter word (I'm allowed to have a few fave words, I'm a girl ;) starts with L and you guessed it, LOVE. Saw this quote a while back and decided to 'write' it on a park bench.
Vandalism in the digital era, folks.

'So if you're going to fall, fall hard. Fear nothing. If you're going to love, love hard. Hold nothing back.'

Want VS Need

Credits: Solestruck Fall 2011 Lookbook

I saw the lookbook sometime back but only got to sharing them here now. Too many shoes in my desktop folder labelled 'INSP' so I only rmbred to post these pics when I was looking for 'inspiration'.
And just what inspiration is there in shoes, you ask me?
Why, plenty!
First, there is the shape.  A slight arc in the heels or how straight the boots are and how they will make your legs look longer/shorter.
Next, there is the material + color. Leopard printed furry or gold plated tips will make you think of overall maintenance and how durable a shoe is. Esp in rainy Singapore.  And if it matches your clothes or will stand out. I find it easier to dress down and let my shoes do the talking. Rather than stress an hour over how my dress don't fit right or how I can't find the right pair of shorts to go with my shirt or how it looks out-of-fashion.
Because a good/pretty shoe will most likely never be out of fashion no matter how old it is.
You wear a tank top with jeans and throw on a pair of boots and you look biker chic.
Pair it with heels and you'd be more feminine.
Pair it with sandals and you're good for the day.
Pair it with hooker heels and you'd get picked up in weird places.

Shoes can make or break your style.

So at times when I'm feeling lazy or have little time to dress 'cos I was busy before that (procrastinating), I just dress simple and let wear a nicer pair of shoes. I find it so much easier 'cos matching clothes is another level altogether.

Yeah actually there isn't much point to this post except to justify why shoes are such inspiration that they can be filed under my INSP folder and how I should stop going to Solestruck if I want to stop drooling.

For days when I have time on my hands, I love going to blogs to get visual inspiration. Taken from Nasty gal lookbook, Charlotte lookbook, Vogue Nippon, and misc pics that I forgot to keep their brand names.
White sheer dress, John Lennon shades, brown hair, pretty girls, silhouette of a flowy dress and the most amazing heels ever...

Score!

Shoes. I can't get enough of shoes. (Yeah I sound like an addict)

And just when I thought I'd seen it all, Balenciaga comes up with boots that are studded/spiked underneath. MIND BLOWN. Plus I love the cut of the boots too, looks so wearable.

The studs remind me of a glamourous version of soccer boots hahaha. Like what rock & roll soccer stars will wear. Not like they will be kicking on grass but they will already be the winners just by wearing that. Heh

Alexander Wang makes wearing oxfords a cool cool deal.

There is a fine line with wanting something and wanting something too much.
Black Swan really blew me away with its story development and how things are not as simple as they appear. It is unnerving at times, I must say.. I was feeling so much for Natalie Portman's character. How she had to learn to react to the cruel world after being thrown into it. This film really shows the competitive side of dance and how the passion to dance well can drive you to the furthest extreme you can possibly imagine.
I guess I really got into Black Swan because as a dancer, you can sort of relate to the need to dance your best.. Though sometimes your best isn't good enough.
Natalie Portman really shows the struggles of facing the pressure to be the best ballerina well.
She really made me feel the pressure too.
(though I'm not as competitive.) One of the best films of 2010, that's for sure.

This is my desktop wallpaper in sch. Frida, weaved hair, 3D butterfly dress? Best.

Weaved hair- stroke of genius.
